Desc: Augusto San Miguel ha muerto ayer: Directed by Javier Izquierdo. Augusto San Miguel, from Guayaquil, produced, directed and starred the first feature films made in Ecuador, in the 1920s. None of these films are preserved today and its author's biography is full of unexplained gaps and passages approaching the myth. This documentary film reconstructs this figure, nearly 80 years later, from records such as files, testimonies and press releases of the time, but also from the recycling of his legend. It tries to reveal if the grave of the first Ecuadorian filmmaker contains, as rumored, the films he asked to be buried with.
